7.6Verified guest“Renovated in 2010, all rooms and bathrooms are clean and well furnished. Underfloor heating is great on cold days. We had a 6th-floor room with a view of the Blue Mosque and Marmara Sea. Staff were very helpful with taxi directions and airport transfers. Breakfast is the usual Turkish fare – cornflakes, salad, olives, boiled eggs, bread. We brought our own fruit and coffee to supplement. Lots of small local eateries nearby, where a meal costs €2-€5. One grilled sea bream was TRY 6 (€3), lentil soup TRY 1. No alcohol in those places. Tourist restaurants (4x more expensive) are a 5-minute walk away. Two convenience stores sell beer (TRY 3 a bottle), wine, snacks, fruit; two supermarkets next door and a great cake shop opposite. It's residential with plenty of shops. Taxis are easy to get, Topkapi is TRY 10 from the hotel or a 20-minute walk. The tram at Beyazit (Grand Bazaar) is a 10-15 minute uphill walk or TRY 4 by taxi. The tram links all tourist sites, including Dolmabahce Palace across Galata Bridge, costing TRY 1.75 per trip. Free Wi-Fi generally good.”
